About the WebBlocker Cache

To improve performance, WebBlocker stores recent URL lookups in a local cache on your Firebox. WebBlocker stores to three levels of the URL path in the cache up. For example, if WebBlocker looks up the URL www.example.com/path1/path2/path3/path4/webpage.html, it stores only www.example.com/path1/path2/path3 in the cache.

WebBlocker currently caches URL lookup entries for 7 days. You can clear the cache if recent URL categorization changes by WebBlocker are not being applied.

In Fireware OS v11.7 and higher, one WebBlocker cache is shared by all WebBlocker actions configured for the same categorization database type (Websense or SurfControl) on the device. The maximum number of entries in the WebBlocker cache varies by device memory, and is not configurable.
