Troubleshoot Device Control Settings

In the Device Control settings of a workstation and server settings profile, you can control the behavior of protected Windows computers when they connect to a removable or mass storage device. You can select the device or devices you want to authorize or block, and specify their usage. For more information, go to Configure Device Control (Windows Computers).

Sometimes, you might encounter a Device Control issue, such as an incorrect authorized use of a removable storage drive or Bluetooth device.

To troubleshoot a Device Control issue:

  1. Run the advanced logs tool.
  2. Run the Pserrortrace tool.
  3. Reproduce the issue.
  4. Collect the PSerrortrace diagnostic file.
  5. Enable Support Access to your WatchGuard Cloud account.

  6. Contact Support.

When you contact Support, make sure to provide a detailed description of the issue and the Pserrortrace diagnostic file. You can also use the PSInfo tool to provide diagnostic logs to help Support troubleshoot your issue. For more information, go to Get Started with PSInfo.
