These products support the installation of WatchGuard Data Control:
- WatchGuard Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR)
- WatchGuard Endpoint Protection Detection and Response (EPDR)
- WatchGuard Advanced EPDR
WatchGuard Data Control supports devices that run Microsoft Windows XP SP3 and higher and Windows Server 2003 SP1 and higher. Data Control does not support Linux and macOS.
Microsoft Filter Pack Component
The Microsoft Filter Pack is a single point-of-distribution for Microsoft Office IFilters. IFilters enable Data Control to index the contents of specific file types so you can search for PII in those files.
Microsoft Office includes the Microsoft Filter Pack. The IFilter components that correspond to Office products installed on the user computer are installed automatically. The IFilter pack includes these file types:
- Legacy Office Filter (97-2003: .DOC, .PPT, .XLS)
- Metro Office Filter (2007: .DOCX, .PPTX, .XLSX)
- Zip Filter
- OneNote Filter
- Visio Filter
- Publisher Filter
- Open Document Format Filter
IFilter does not support strict open XML spreadsheets.
Manually Install the Microsoft Filter Pack
To make sure that all IFilter components are available on the computer, you can manually install the Microsoft Filter Pack.

The Microsoft Filter Pack is compatible with Windows XP SP2, Windows Server 2003 SP2, and higher. In some cases, you must install the Microsoft Core XML Services 6.0 library or Microsoft Search Service.
