Troubleshoot Firewall and Network Issues
Applies To: WatchGuard Advanced EPDR, WatchGuard EPDR, WatchGuard EDR, WatchGuard EPP
When you use a WatchGuard Endpoint Security product, you might experience connectivity issues with your firewall or network. Use the information in this topic to help troubleshoot the issues.
Error in Firewall Protection
If an error shows when you open your Endpoint Security product, make sure to:
- Disable the Microsoft Windows firewall.
- Disable any other third-party firewall software.
- Use the latest version of your WatchGuard Endpoint Security product.
- Verify the firewall protection configuration from the local Administrator Panel.
Lost Internet Connection or Shared Folder Access
If you lose Internet connectivity or access to shared folders, make sure to use the latest version of your WatchGuard Endpoint Security product.
Connection Issues and Third-Party Programs
If you have connectivity issues with a third-party program, review how your endpoint security product manages the firewall for the program. You can add a rule for the third-party program or restore a rule that might affect program connectivity.
From the Endpoint Security management UI:
- Add a new rule to allow traffic to and from the third-party program.
- Perform a sync from the local computer to apply the new rule.
From the Endpoint Security product on the local computer:
- Restore any firewall program control rules for the program.
- Verify firewall settings.
The NNS Firewall Diagnostic tool (NNSDiag) can help troubleshoot firewall issues. You can send the diagnostic files it creates to Support. You can also use the PSInfo tool to provide diagnostic logs to help Support troubleshoot your issue. For more information, go to Get Started with PSInfo.
