WatchGuard Wireless Solutions

WatchGuard offers two types of wireless devices that you can use separately or together to add secure wireless access points to your network: a Firebox wireless device and a WatchGuard AP (Access Point).

WatchGuard
Access Point (AP) 

You cannot manage WatchGuard Wi-Fi 6 APs (AP130, AP230W, AP330, AP332CR, AP430CR, AP432) with a Gateway Wireless Controller on a Firebox or WatchGuard Wi-Fi Cloud. If you are looking for information about how to manage Wi-Fi 6 APs in WatchGuard Cloud, go to About Wi-Fi in WatchGuard Cloud.

Firebox Wireless Device

You can enable up to three wireless access points on a Firebox device with built-in wireless capabilities. To configure built-in access points on a Firebox wireless device, select Network > Wireless in Fireware Web UI or Policy Manager.

WatchGuard Access Point (AP)

You can connect WatchGuard APs to your Firebox internal networks to add wireless access to your network. There are two ways you can manage a WatchGuard AP:

WatchGuard Firebox Gateway Wireless Controller

You can use Gateway Wireless Controller on your Firebox to configure, manage, and monitor WatchGuard APs directly from the Firebox. You can connect multiple WatchGuard APs to the trusted, optional, or custom networks of a Firebox, and manage them from the Gateway Wireless Controller on the Firebox.

To configure WatchGuard APs from Gateway Wireless Controller, select Network > Gateway Wireless Controller in Fireware Web UI or Policy Manager.

WatchGuard Wi-Fi Cloud

WatchGuard Wi-Fi Cloud is a powerful cloud-based enterprise wireless management solution for WatchGuard AP configuration, security, and monitoring. For more information about WatchGuard Wi-Fi Cloud, go to About WatchGuard Wi-Fi Cloud.

WatchGuard Wi-Fi Solutions

WatchGuard offers three types of wireless security solutions for WatchGuard APs:

  • Basic Wi-Fi — Use the Gateway Wireless Controller on your Firebox to configure, manage, and monitor WatchGuard APs directly from the Firebox.
  • Secure Wi-Fi — Use WatchGuard Wi-Fi Cloud for WatchGuard AP management, security, and monitoring.
  • Total Wi-Fi — Use WatchGuard Wi-Fi Cloud for WatchGuard AP management, security, and monitoring. Provides additional tools for guest user engagement, analytics, social media integration, captive portals, and splash page design.
