Subscribe an Access Point to a Site
Applies To: WatchGuard Cloud-managed Access Points (AP130, AP230W, AP330, AP332CR, AP430CR, AP432)
Some of the features described in this topic are only available to participants in the WatchGuard Cloud Beta program. If a feature described in this topic is not available in your version of WatchGuard Cloud, it is a beta-only feature.
You can use an access point site to configure multiple cloud-managed access points with the same wireless configuration. For information about how to manage access point sites, go to Manage Access Point Sites.
After you create the site configuration, you can subscribe access points to the site. When you subscribe or unsubscribe an access point from a site, you immediately deploy the site configuration to the cloud for the access points to download. Each time you deploy an update to a site, subscribed access points receive the new site configuration.
WatchGuard Cloud verifies that the firmware version of the access point supports the features enabled in the configuration deployment and enables you to upgrade the firmware version if required.
For more information about access point site deployment, go to Deploy an Access Point Site.
To subscribe an access point to a site, use one of these methods:

To subscribe a device to an access point site directly from the access point device configuration, from WatchGuard Cloud:
- Select Configure > Devices.
- Select a cloud-managed access point.
- Click Device Configuration.
- Click Access Point Site.
The Access Point Site page opens.
- From the Site drop-down list, select an access point site configuration you want to apply to the access point. Select None to remove any site configuration and only use the device configuration.
- Click Save.
The deployment wizard performs a check to determine the device firmware version. If a firmware version upgrade is not necessary, the changes are deployed to the cloud for the device to download.
If a feature in the configuration deployment is not supported by the current firmware version on the access point, you have the option to upgrade the firmware version so that the access point supports the feature. For more information, go to Verify Supported Features and Firmware on Configuration Deployment.

To subscribe one or more access points to a site configuration, you can edit the subscribed devices in the site configuration.
To subscribe access points to a site from the site configuration, from WatchGuard Cloud:
- Select Configure > Access Point Sites.
The Access Point Sites page opens. - To open the site, select the site name.
The Configuration Details tab opens. - Select Subscribed Devices.
The Subscribed Devices tab shows a list of all devices subscribed to the site.
- To select devices to subscribe to this site, click Select Devices.
The Select Devices dialog box opens. The list shows all devices in the currently selected account that do not already subscribe to this site.
- Select the check box for each device you want to subscribe to this site.
- Click Save.
The deployment wizard performs a check to determine the device firmware version. If a firmware version upgrade is not necessary, the changes are deployed to the cloud for the subscribed devices to download.
If a feature in the configuration deployment is not supported by the current firmware version on one or more access points, you have the option to upgrade the firmware version so that the access points support the feature. For more information, go to Verify Supported Features and Firmware on Configuration Deployment.
Verify Supported Features and Firmware on Configuration Deployment
When you subscribe an access point to a site, WatchGuard Cloud verifies that the firmware version of the access point supports the features enabled in the site configuration, and enables you to upgrade the firmware version if required.
This verification makes sure that a device configuration update takes place only if the firmware version supports the features in the deployment, and offers steps to correct the deployment if the firmware version does not support the feature.
When you select to Upgrade and Save, WatchGuard Cloud immediately upgrades the firmware version of the access points to the latest version available for the device model and then applies the site configuration.
If you are part of the WatchGuard Cloud Beta program and you have the Device Firmware Beta Releases beta toggle enabled, the firmware version upgrades to the latest beta version, if applicable.
