Proxy Errors with an Isolated Environment
Applies To: WatchGuard Advanced EPDR, WatchGuard EPDR, WatchGuard EDR, WatchGuard EPP
To protect an isolated computer on your network that has the WatchGuard Agent and endpoint security product installed, you can provide the computer with access to a WatchGuard server through the use of a proxy. For more information, go to Designate a Computer as a WatchGuard Proxy (Windows Computers).
However, errors might occur when you use a WatchGuard Agent on a computer that accesses a proxy from an isolated environment. Errors are commonly related to DNS resolution or IP addressing.
Try these steps to resolve proxy errors:
- From the proxy computer, select Task Manager > Services and verify that the computer shows the WatchGuardEndpointProxy service as Running.
- From the remote (isolated) computer, verify that you can ping the host name of the proxy.
To test a connection to a proxy, at a command prompt from the remote computer, type:
ping <proxy_hostname> - From the remote computer, enable the Telnet protocol. By default, the Telnet service uses port 3128.
To test a connection to a proxy, at a command prompt from the remote computer, type:
telnet <proxy_hostname> 3128
If you cannot connect to a proxy, contact Support. When you contact Support, make sure to use the PSInfo tool to provide diagnostic logs for both the proxy computer and the endpoint computer.
