Enable Your Computer to Connect to Fireware Web UI
Before you can use the Web Setup Wizard, you must configure your computer to connect to Fireware Web UI your Firebox. To set up a new Firebox, you connect to interface 1, which has the default IP address 10.0.1.1.
To connect to the Firebox, your computer must have an IP address on the same subnet as the Firebox interface. You can configure your computer to use a static IP address, or use DHCP to get an IP address automatically.
For the Firebox to assign your computer an IP address, your computer must use DHCP to request an IP address. If your computer does not already use DHCP, you can enable it in the network settings.
For example, to configure a computer with Windows 10 to use DHCP:
- Open Control Panel.
- Select Network and Internet.
- Select Network and Sharing Center.
- Select Change adapter settings.
- Double-click your Ethernet interface.
The Ethernet Properties window opens. - Double-click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4).
The Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties dialog box opens. - Select Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically.
- To close the Internet Protocol (TCP/IPv4) Properties dialog box, click OK.
To use a static IP address and connect to a Firebox, you must configure your computer with a static IP address in the 10.0.1.0/24 subnet.
For example, to configure a computer with Windows 10 to use an IP address on the 10.0.1.0/24 subnet:
- Open Control Panel.
- Select Network and Internet.
- Select Network and Sharing Center.
- Select Change adapter settings.
- Double-click your Ethernet interface.
The Ethernet Properties window opens. - Double-click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4).
The Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties dialog box opens. - Select Use the following IP address.
- In the IP address text box, type an IP address on the same network as the Firebox trusted interface. For example, you can set the IP address on your computer to 10.0.1.2.
The default IP address for the Firebox trusted interface is 10.0.1.1. - In the Subnet Mask text box , type 255.255.255.0.
- In the Default Gateway text box , type the IP address of the Firebox trusted interface, 10.0.1.1.
- To close the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties dialog box, click OK.
After you configure the Ethernet settings on your computer, connect it to Firebox interface 1. Then connect to Fireware Web UI at https://10.0.1.1:8080.
