About ThreatSync+ SaaS Subscription Licenses
Applies To: ThreatSync+ SaaS
When you purchase and activate a ThreatSync+ SaaS subscription license, the license is automatically added to your WatchGuard Cloud account. You can add and manage usage in WatchGuard Cloud as usual, with no allocation limits.
After you activate a subscription license:
- You can add any number of users to your account and your managed accounts. Each user can have up to three devices associated with their license.
- Managed accounts can add any number of users to their account. You can limit the maximum number of users for each account you manage. For more information, go to Limit the Number of Users for a Managed Account — ThreatSync+ SaaS.
- Pages in WatchGuard Cloud that show the number of allocated users update to show a count of term users and a count of subscription usage.
- You can go to the Manage Products page in WatchGuard Support Center to view the subscription details and user usage.
Subscription and Term Licenses
You can have both a term license and a subscription license. Users from term licenses are always used first because they are prepaid.
Subscription usage accounts for your activated term users that have not expired. So, if you have 100 users and a term license for 60 users, then you would receive an invoice for 40 subscription users (100 users – 60 term users).
When you renew or upgrade a term license, your subscription usage count reduces automatically so that you are billed for only the subscription users in excess of your term license. For example, if you have 100 users and you upgrade your existing term license from 60 to 80 users, your subscription license count after you upgrade is 20 users (100 users – 80 term users).
For accounts with an active subscription license, term licenses that expire do not cause overallocation. When a term license expires, any users in excess of your term license are billed as subscription users. Your subscription license usage count automatically increases.
If you cancel a subscription and allocated users exceed your available term license, your account becomes overallocated.
Allocation Types
When Service Providers allocate users from a license to their managed accounts, they select an allocation type which specifies how the managed account can use the users.
Term Allocation
When you allocate users as a term allocation, the managed account can allocate a specific number of users to an account for a set duration or term from a term or MSSP license.
Subscription Allocation
When you allocate users as a subscription allocation, the managed account can allocate a specific number of users or an unlimited number of users. WatchGuard bills the account monthly based on the number of active users.
Linked to License
When you allocate users as Linked to License, the quantity and expiration date of the allocated users are linked to the quantity and expiration date of your term license.
Subscription Billing
With a subscription license, you receive an invoice monthly. On the first of each month, WatchGuard Cloud calculates the prorated number of subscription users for the previous month from your account and all accounts you manage. This is the number of subscription users you are invoiced for the current month.
