About WatchGuard Analyze

Applies To: Wi-Fi Cloud-managed Access Points (AP125, AP225W, AP325, AP327X, AP420)

From Analyze, you can provide Internet access to guest users through a customized portal. Guest users can log in with social media account credentials or with credentials that you provide. You can also see analytics about guest user activity.

The Analyze console includes these sections:

Dashboard

The Dashboard shows a brief overview of the statistics for the location you select from the location tree. This includes:

  • Demographic data about your guest Wi-Fi users
  • Store footfall
  • Dwell time
  • Comparison data of new users and repeat users for the last day, last week, and last month

Analytics

Analyze gets visibility and association analytics information from Manage, analyzes guest user information for each portal, and provides graphical and tabular representations of this data.

Analytics data is synchronized with the Manage service once daily. You can manually synchronize the data at any time in Analyze from the Admin > Servers page. Analytics data is retained on the system for 13 months. For more information, see Servers.

Reports

Download, view, and schedule custom reports of analytics data for the time periods you select.

Portals

You can create and configure one or more portals. Guest users can then authenticate to your Wi-Fi network through those portals. To enable your guest users to get access to the Internet, you can add authentication plug-ins to the portal. You can use plug-ins for social media applications, authentication servers, or a Guestbook to which you can add user accounts or allow guest users to register.

Analyze Overview

The features available in Analyze include:

  • Multiple Custom Portals — Guest users can authenticate to your Wi-Fi network and connect to the Internet through the custom portals you created in Analyze. You can create one or more portals in Analyze.
  • Internet Access with Social Media Accounts — Guest users can get access to your Wi-Fi network through a portal with their social media account credentials. Analyze supports Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and many other social media sites. Social media plug-ins can be configured in the custom portals.
  • Internet Access with a Private Guestbook — Guest users can also get access to your Wi-Fi network through the portal with a guest user account that you create in the private Guestbook. The Guestbook can also include other user details.
  • Clickthrough and Web Form Internet Access — You can configure a custom portal to provide Internet access to guest users without authentication. This is possible only if you include the Clickthrough plug-in when you configure the portal. You can also configure the portal to request some basic user information through a web form before users can get Internet access.
  • Internet Access with an SMS Code — Enables a guest user to get an Internet access code in an SMS text message. The guest user must provide a mobile phone number on the portal page.
  • SMTP Integration — You can configure an SMTP server in your Analyze service to send account details through email to users included in the Guestbook.
  • Wi-Fi Cloud Integration — Analyze integrates with Wi-Fi Cloud and retrieves the visibility and association analytics information from Wi-Fi Cloud services.
  • Dashboard — The Dashboard shows a daily, weekly, and monthly overview of statistics for visitors in and around the store, visitors that use the guest Wi-Fi, demographic data of visitors that use the guest Wi-Fi, store footfall, dwell time, and comparison data of new users and repeat users.
  • Location-Aware Analytics — Analyze includes location-aware social, visitor, usage, loyalty, and conversion analytics in graphs.
  • Social Analytics — Helps you analyze your guest Wi-Fi usage with information about the number of guest users that use a social media account to authenticate and get access to the Internet. You can also view pie charts that show age and gender distribution over a specific period of time.
  • Visitor Analytics — Shows graphs of the visitor distribution and visitor dwell time by days and locations.
  • Wi-Fi Usage Analytics — Shows graphs that represent the data received and transmitted, and the total data exchange by days and location.
  • Loyalty Analytics — Shows store and brand loyalty graphs and charts of the frequency of guest visits.
  • Conversion Analytics — Shows conversion analytic graphs of how many guests converted (visited the store) based on the RSSI value.
  • Zoning Analytics using Floor Map — Shows AP visitor distribution and dwell time for a location floor based on the proximity of visitors to APs that are installed on the location floor.
  • Engagement Analytics — Shows the websites intercepted, the duration time of their engagement, and the location.
  • Third-Party Integration for Real-time Guest Profile Information — Integrates with third-party applications and sends real-time guest profile information to these applications. You can use this information to send offers or personalized messages to your guest users.
  • Reports Management — Enables the creation of custom PDF reports. A custom report can contain sections with data from various analytics charts.

Analyze Workflow

After you have create your custom portal, when users try to connect to the Internet though your Wi-Fi network, Analyze has this workflow:

  1. When a guest user tries to connect to the Internet through an AP in your Wi-Fi network, a portal page appears. If you enabled an authentication option (added social media or Guestbook plug-ins) to the custom portal, guest users are asked for their user credentials.
  2. If the guest user chooses social media authentication, the portal redirects the user to the social media login. The guest then authenticates with social media account credentials. The social media site validates the user account credentials. If authentication is successful, the portal and the social media site exchange authentication information about the user.
  3. Guest users are then asked whether they want to share some of the information in their social media account with your social media application. If accepted, the social media plug-in verifies whether guests Like or Follow your page on the social media site and, if not, requests guests to Like or Follow your page.
  4. The AP then allows guest users to connect to the Internet.
