Configure Spanning Tree Protocol Settings in the CLI
You can enable Spanning Tree Protocol for a LAN bridge, VLAN, or in the bridge mode settings. For more information about Spanning Tree Protocol, see About Spanning Tree Protocol.
To change the default settings for Spanning Tree Protocol, you must use the Fireware Command Line Interface (CLI). For detailed information about CLI commands for Spanning Tree Protocol, see the Fireware Command Line Interface Reference.
Default Settings
When you enable Spanning Tree Protocol, the Firebox uses these default Spanning Tree Protocol settings:
- Bridge priority — 32768
- Bridge forward delay — 15 seconds
- Hello time — 2 seconds
- Max message time — 20
- Aging time — 300
- Port priority — 128
CLI Commands
From the Fireware CLI, you can change the default Spanning Tree Protocol settings.
The hello value can only be configured on the root bridge.
Bridge mode
Configure bridge mode settings with the network-mode bridge spanning-tree command.
To set the aging timer, run the network-mode bridge aging command.
To see a summary of the Spanning Tree Protocol settings, run the interface command, and then the show stp command.
Network bridge
Run the bridge command to edit the bridge, and then the spanning-tree command to change the settings.
To see a summary of the Spanning Tree settings, run the show bridge command.
VLAN
Run the vlancommand to edit the VLAN, and then the spanning-tree command to change the settings.
To see a summary of the Spanning Tree settings, run the show vlan command.
